Low Energy Workout, with High Impact
I have partnered with Body Bar Southlake to bring you this post. All opinions remain my own.
Some days it is just hard to work out, am I right? You can barely get out of bed, and then you have to lift heavy stuff or act like there's a bear chasing you. Don't get me wrong...some days it is a breeze; however, if my energy isn't there, it can be brutal!
Have you ever taken a reformer class? It's a machine created by the legendary Joe Pilates. I have taken several of his brand of pilates classes, but never a reformer. Whenever Body Bar Southlake invited me to their studio, I couldn't wait to try it out!
Reformers can literally transform your entire body. It is a very versatile machine, and y'all know how I love versatility! It can work your arms, your abs, your booty, well you get the picture ;) What I loved about taking this class, is that it is very low energy. Yes, we started the class out with some warm ups and cardio; however, for the most part, you are just repeating movements. Now, it's not just easy breezy, but it's a lot less momentum, than running an 8 minute mile. It's similar to golf in the sense that you can modify positions, to increase or decrease your difficulty level, no matter what class or level you are on.
Sound amazing? Well, it is! And the fun part is that you don't feel it until the next day! Talk about SORENESS. My calves were feeling it 3 days after! Another great thing about taking Body Bar's Reformer class, is that it's something new each week. The machines can be used in a myriad of ways, plus you can add on things like weights, springs, and other props, to change it up. I feel like a lot of people get sick and tired of work outs, because it's repetitive and while Reformer is repetitive, it is anything but boring!
I have take the basic Reformer class several times, but Body Bar also offers other types of classes, like Reformer Jump (more cardio) and Reformer Boot Camp (a little bit of everything). If there's one near you, I highly recommend it. Body Bar Southlake is 10 minutes from my work, so it's super convenient! Not to mention, there's a Snap Kitchen next door, which is my favorite thing to eat, right after a class!
Side note - something Iām looking forward to purchasing (besides cute, new pilates socks) are some new workout shoes! I know people like wearing slides to class, but I like wearing sneakers and Iām in the market for a new pair. Looking at adidas, but let me know what your favorites are!! Iāve been wanting some of their hiking boots too. There are so many good trails in and nearby, I need to just invest in a pair!
